Despite my yearly weather complaints, I bundled up in my cardigan and denim jacket to brave the cold to head to Mr. Bumble, my first date destination. Two of my friends have been a few times and enjoyed the selection so what better choice to start off the year.

The café was empty when I arrived and took my time browsing the menu. Avocado toast with sliced tomatoes and a fried egg. I sat at a table away from the door, safe from the sudden onslaught of cold air, and got to work finishing up my 2025 goals post, organizing monthly blog tasks and, of course, reading snippets of fanfic in between.

Moments after I received my food, other customers started to file in. Some were stopping by for a quick bite, chatting with the owner as they ate or settled in to do some work with a different bit of scenery. The perfect level of ambience to read peacefully in-between bites.

Which is how an hour passed. While I could have stayed a little longer, I had other errands to run before I retreated back to the warmth of the apartment. All in all, a nice, slow start to my writing date goals.

Side note: there were pictures taken for this post. Pictures on my very new shiny phone. That I dropped days after said date and ruined. Something I only realized when I went to upload a photo and saw it didn’t exist on my newer, shinier replacement phone. So, no aesthetically pleasing photo of the avocado toast. You’ll have to trust me when I say it looked pretty and delicious.
