Ferdinand Cardigan (2)

Long time, no crochet. No seriously, little to no crocheting has occurred in the past few months. In fact, it was only a few days ago that I pulled out one of my cardigan wips to complete a few rows. While I didn’t physically work on the cardigan during that time, I did think of it often and what my next steps were going to be.

It’s turning out well but I may run into a different problem.

That problem being the type of yarn I’m using, which is Loops & Threads Soft and Shiny in Icy Blue. (A color I love and still think is a perfect match for Ferdinand’s hair color.) It’s not uncommon for a specific color or type of yarn to be out of stock for long periods of time or be discontinued. This was not something I took into account when planning this project. Picking up said project again, I now have to consider this oversight. Especially since I was already having issues months ago with finding this color in the same brand in nearby stores.

Not to mention the silky feel of the yarn, while nice to the touch, makes me worry about how the bead stitch will hold up over time and whenever it needs to be cleaned. It looks good now but I’m already thinking of redoing the cardigan with a different yarn in the future. Maybe another stitch to complement the current one or a decorative border.

I’m trying very hard not to start another crochet wip until I make decent progress on the cardigan. Will I be successful? (Hopefully!) And will I ever take these photos during the day? (Most likely not!)

That’s been the update! I’ll see you in a few months for the next one.
