I started my first writing date with a familiar place: Mr Fuji Sushi! It’s been several months since I’ve step into Mr. Fuji. Of course, I ordered the Katsu Don, my go-to favorite. Ignore the empty miso bowl, the warmth was perfect for the snow we’ve had and I may have finished it in record time.

I chose not to bring any notebooks even though I vaguely planned for this date to happen after work. And since I didn’t really have anything specific to write, I spent my time making notes for posts (including this one!) and jotting down stray thoughts on my phone. While there were other diners in the restaurant, it wasn’t many so I could focus and still appreciate the ambience of the low music and chatter. I didn’t write pages upon pages but I did leave satisfied with what I had.
As I waited for my ride, I browsed through the Book House before picking up a few of my preorders dating back to late October. To say the booksellers there rock for hanging onto them for me is an understatement. And look! Tamora Pierce’s Song of the Lioness quartet got new covers! (New to me anyway.)

Despite my very justified complaints about snow, I will admit there’s something nice about enjoying it in the quiet of the night. The cold, not so much. All in all, a successful and relaxing writing date.
