2024 Writing Goals

Happy New Year!

Now that I’ve met the first day of 2024 with good friends, tasty food and some competitive Mario Karting, I can dive into my yearly writing goals!

☆ One Blog Post ~Each~ Month

Last year I strived to write one post per month for the blog and I’m happy to say I did it! Sort of! The goal, as it has been for the past 2 years, means a total of 12 posts to be written over the course of the year. I wrote 13. However, there were three months that I missed posting while I posted twice during four months and once for the remaining months. I’ve decided to try for a third and final time to complete this particular goal, just to see if I can meet the monthly goal.

☆ Commission CIS Art

This is self explanatory. I want another art piece done for the Cat Isekai Story. However, the artist I commissioned my first character from last year isn’t accepting commissions right now and I haven’t found another with open commissions or an artstyle I want for the character. But the year has just started. Maybe she’ll be able to open them again soon.

☆ One Writing Date per Month

Cafés, libraries, museums; if there’s somewhere I can comfortably sit and write for a few hours I wanna be there! The idea is to continue those dates while having a few small adventures in 2024! Here’s a couple of places I wrote at last year:

Occupying my friend’s couch.
Semi-busy fish fry place.
Delicious Indian curry.

☆ Play More Solo Journaling Games

What is a solo journaling game, you might be asking. Solo journaling RPGs are (usually) pen and paper games where a single player uses prompts to tell a story, creating a snapshot of a character’s life that the player logs through journal entries. Some are simple while others can have gameplay spanning over days or weeks even, allowing you to set your own pace.

The cover of Jeeyon Shim’s connected path game, The Shape of Shadows.

Which is great! I want to finish The Shape of Shadows, a connected path game where you play a magician’s assistant, abandoning your old life for one in which true magic exists. There’s MIRU, a solo roll & write adventure game where you explore new lands, survive combat, hunt for treasures and kill a god. And I’m interested in Anamnesis, where you play as an individual who has woken up with memory loss. You draw tarot cards to fill the blank spaces of your past and learn more about your present.

Maybe I can play part of a shorter game on one of my writing dates.

Many WIP that need some love and lots of ideas that need to be recorded and organized. Past NaNoWriMo projects to finish and future stories I want to start drafting for the upcoming years. There’s nonsense from 2023 I have to worry about but, all in all, I’m looking forward to this new year.
