It’s once again time for Spotify Wrapped. And perhaps unsurprising to me alone, most of my stats this year are largely from my writing playlists.
What was surprising was my #1 top song. I know “A Song for the Birds” wasn’t my most listen song. Not by a long shot. Realistically, The Crane Wives’ “Curses” is probably the song I played most frequently. Even Delta Rae’s “Bottom of the River” would make more sense!

But I guess with only 538 minutes of music streamed it’s possible for a song I’ve listen to 4 times to gain the top spot. Spots 2-5 are more accurate for the list, seeing as all 5 are from the Cat Isekai Story playlist.
That said, it only partially reflects my listening habits. I listen to music mostly on YouTube when I’m not watching video essays, artist vlogs or gaming streams. Spotify itself serves more as an archive for me. (It’s also great for my friend and fellow collaborator to add to on the off chance we find something we think fits before can mention it to the other.)
And with 6,801 minutes streamed on YouTube –

– I’m also not surprised various songs from the Hadestown soundtrack made it on a majority of the track list and the entire top artist list. I’ve only been mildly obsessed since I saw the show back in March.
And look at “Mephisto” by Queen Bee making it on both lists! I haven’t seen Oshi no Ko myself but I couldn’t help but was excited when Queen Bee was set to perform the ending of the anime. Her session on The First Take is also amazing if you’ve somehow managed to miss it! These lyrics in particular really set my mood when I’m writing:
If life returns to you, if it reaches you, ah
I don't care what happens to me
Ah, but not every wish will be fulfilled
And if that’s not realized, I shall become you
I also have some quick Honorable Mentions from my YouTube watch history and even two from this small list are on the Cat Isekai Story playlist as well:
☆”Scream” – FF XIV: Endwalker (vocals: AKINO)
☆☆”Hated By Life Itself” – Majiko (cover)
☆”Made of Stone” – Hunchback of Notre Dame Ensemble, Michael Arden
☆☆”Flow” – FF XIV: Endwalker (vocals: Amanda Achen)
☆”ChrOme Arts” – OnlyOneOf
Recaps aside, I plan to do a series of breakdown posts for the Cat Isekai Story playlist in the future; covering overall vibes, songs and lyrics related to characters, story locations, etc. It’s obvious I’m enjoying both listening and curating said playlist. Though, it’s currently over 3 hours and 30 minutes and will be longer well before I get around to those posts so I should be more diligent in organizing the few notes I’ve been taking in preparation.
This might be the last blog post of the year. (Unless I decide to sneak in a shorter one.) If that’s the case, I hope we can finish out the year with a bit of time to rest. Maybe squeeze a few more replays in before we step into 2024.
Until then,
