2:17 a.m. (Final cover)

Gather round so that we may gaze upon the Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 5 Volume 12 cover, the final cover for the main story! Even though the official English translation will wrap up later (chapters for Part 5 Volume 7 is currently being published on J Novel Club) it’s surreal to think I’ll finish reading the series in its entirety soon.

You’d think with 33 books worth of the main storyline, several short stories featuring a host of familiar and new characters as well as an impressive number of fanbooks AND three seasons of anime, I’d be moderately satisfied. And that doesn’t include the audio drama.

The answer is apparently not.

In the same vein as Bioware’s Hard in Hightown by Thedas’ favorite unreliable narrator, Varric Tethras, I can’t help but want a real world publication of A Ditter Story.

The story of two apprentices at the Royal Academy, one a knight and the other a scholar, who work together to win a ditter match would be a fun standalone read of its own! How could I not want such a book!

I mentioned my feelings about Ascendance last year but I feel it bears repeating: Miya Kazuki has created a story I love with all my heart. She has my full support for whatever she writes next, especially if it’s within the fantasy genre again. I also hope she gets some well deserved rest before diving into her next written adventure.
