I’ve been wanting to get back into crocheting for years so seeing people online and close friends getting into it has really motivated me to started again.
Having a small project to practice on has been fun but I’ve reached the end of that particular project a few weeks ago. And as with most of my creative hobbies, I began to wonder how I could incorporate more of my interests.
With renewed interest in said craft and my totally normal levels of adoration for the light novel series, Ascendance of a Bookworm, I decided my second project will be a character themed cardigan, that character being Ferdinand!

I’m going the rectangle cardigan route as it’s an easy and common pattern to follow for beginners. You probably noticed the few rows I’ve started already around the center cake. I’ll show it off once I have more rows to get a better idea of how it’ll look as a whole. So far, there’s minimal work for the project:
Crochet hook size: 6.5 mm
Stitches: double crochet, bead stitch
Yarn:
Loops & Threads – Icy Blue
Loops & Threads – Yellow
The yellow yarn will be an accent color to connect potential front panels but since I went into this without that originally in mind, it’s up in the air until I finish the main piece. In the meantime, I’ll be looking into patterns that’ll fit with the next Ascendance crochet project as I work on this cardigan.
