2023 Writing Projects

Happy New Year!

This post comes a little late but I decided to reflect on the previous year and what I want moving into 2023.

Much like last year, there’s only writing goals and no resolutions. (And if I did they’d be small, personal things anyway.) My creative drive is outpacing the time I have in a given day but I’m hopeful that some of the things I’m working on will see some noticeable progress this year.

Nanowrimo 2022

Between work and recovering from an unexpected bout of sickness, there wasn’t nearly enough time to work on “Quest Complete” (what was once lovingly described as “Seasoned Adventurer Retires to a Quiet Life in the Countryside”) the way I wanted. My Nano partner and I will be dedicating our efforts to a piece each month throughout the year. Hopefully before November rolls around again.

SDoMP

Speaking of monthly projects, I have a better grasp of the plot line I want for Sea Devil of Moraport. So another attempt of prepping it for Mermay shall be had. If all goes well, chapter one will be available in May and it’ll be smooth sailing from there.

Others That Mother

Others That Mother was on the shelf longer than I meant for it to be, which turned out to be not a bad thing. I’m happier with the new opening chapter and I’m chipping away at chapters I was dragging my feet to write. Of course, there are notes and other revisions on the previous draft I need to look over. But we’re steadily moving forward.

Cat Isekai Story

This idea has consumed any free thoughts I have when it comes to writing. So much so that I’ve added it to the WIP page and commissioned art of one of the characters, with more planned. It’s still in the outline stage as I work through the bigger picture. I likely won’t start drafting until next year. But that’s okay. I’m just enjoying exploring Jaysong’s story in the meantime.

Reading Rites

How could I express my plans on my blog without including the blog itself. Blog goals are the same as they were last year: 1 post per month. Which is reasonable since I managed 7 posts over the span of the year. In addition to being a spot for general project updates, I’ll also post about any media, written or otherwise, that interests me and the occasional fictional drabble. And begin the slow, terrifying work of promoting the blog and myself as a writer. (Yiiikkkeess)

2022 was a strange, transitional year.

It taught me about my limits as a writer and what I’m able to actually deliver to readers. To write the weird, indulgent stories I want to write for myself. And if anyone is interested in reading them I’m sure we’ll stumble into one another eventually.

So, here’s to another year!

  1. As always good luck and I love you! Can’t wait to read more. Like how to start on another project without finishing what you’re currently working on. Or how to get back to your previous project after switching the arrangement of projects. I’m working on self publishing my short stories as chapbooks. What are your thoughts on doing this? Thanks in advance and again, I love you ❤

    1. Hi hi!

I think if you’re willing and able to do the work self publishing can be a good way to go! Though you’d have to take funds into account depending on the final project. I hope I get to see it soon! 💙

I usually work on multiple projects to help prevent getting stuck while writing. If I don’t feel like working on one particular story, I just switch to another to keep up with my writing
